A student is placed on Academic Warning the first semester their Cumulative GPA falls below 2.0. If, during the next semester, the Cumulative GPA remains below 2.0, a student is placed on Probation. The next semester, if the student’s Semester GPA is below 2.0, they are dismissed. Dismissal is for a period of one year and requires an application for readmission.

There is a process by which you may appeal your dismissal. You must meet with your assigned advisor (or another advisor in your major department) within 10 days of the date of your dismissal. Approval of readmission appeal is not guaranteed.

All academic departments at FIU require a mandatory meeting with an advisor to discuss a plan to help improve your academic situation before registering for another term.
